4 people injured after medical van causes chain-reaction crash

Pickup truck, tree-trimming truck also involved in crash

MIAMI – Four people were injured Friday afternoon after a medical van caused a chain-reaction crash in Miami.

The crash happened at Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 22nd Avenue.

Surveillance video showed the van crashing into a pickup truck, causing a chain-reaction crash.

Four people, all from the van, were taken to a hospital.

The Miami Police Department posted a photo on Twitter that showed the bus stop almost completely demolished.

A witness told Local 10 News that a woman who was inside the medical van flew through the window.

"She was completely ejected," Alex Castro said. "She was next to the van. It looked like she had been walking across the street."

A woman who didn't want to be identified was driving a maroon SUV that was clipped by the pickup truck, which then smashed into a tree-trimming truck.

The pickup truck driver's daughter said her father couldn't avoid the crash, but he was relieved that he didn't hit anyone at the corner bus bench.

"He tried to avoid her as much as possible, and that's when he got in that little nook, and he almost hit the people at the bus stop also, but thank God he didn't," Daymilla Valdez said.

The extent of the victims' injuries have not been released.
