Broward postal worker charged with throwing mail in garbage

John Henry Caddle charged with 4 counts of delaying and detaining mail

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A South Florida mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service has been arrested for dumping mail he was supposed to deliver to residents.

John Henry Caddle, Jr., 58, was charged with four counts of delaying and detaining the mail in Broward County.

Court records show that a witness originally saw Caddle dumping a garbage bag into a dumpster in August. When the witness recovered the garbage bag, it was found to contain deliverable mail.

The next day, investigating postal agents  found five additional garbage bags full of deliverable mail outside Caddle's home.

Caddle appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday morning.

If convicted, Caddle could be sentenced to up five years in prison for each charge.
