Man robs Ocean Surf Hotel employee at gunpoint, Miami Beach police say

Thief ran away with $600 from register

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach police are searching for a man who robbed a hotel employee over the weekend at gunpoint.

The robbery was reported about 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ocean Surf Hotel at 7436 Ocean Terrace.

According to an incident report, a white man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweater walked into the hotel, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from a woman who was working behind the front desk.

The woman told officers that the robber told her, "No body move (sic). Give me the money. If you don't hurry up, I'll shoot you."

The woman opened the register and placed the money tray on the counter, police said.

Police said the thief grabbed $600 and ran out of the lobby, heading north on Ocean Terrace.

Several people inside the lobby and a man sitting just outside witnessed the robbery, the report said.

Authorities said the robber is believed to be in his late 20s, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a medium build and black hair.
