Man found dead in Sunrise home that caught fire

2 homes catch fire within 45 minutes, authorities say

SUNRISE, Fla. – A man was found dead Thursday inside one of two homes that caught fire in Sunrise, authorities said.

Sky 10 was above the scene at 11091 NW 21st Court at 1:30 p.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from a home. Flames were also seen coming through a door of the home.

Authorities said the two homes that are just three miles from each other caught fire within 45 minutes of each other. Both properties are owned by the same person.

An elderly woman sat on a stretcher outside one of the houses and appeared to be shaken up, but uninjured.

Authorities said a man was found dead inside one of the homes. It's unclear whether he was the homeowner.

A man who lives near the other home that caught fire said he ran inside the house to make sure there was no one there.

He said the fire seemed suspicious and said that he saw a gas can in the middle of the living room.

The cause of the fires are under investigation.
