Man threatens to shoot employee during Family Dollar store robbery, police say

Undisclosed amount of cash taken

MIAMI – Miami police are searching for a man they said robbed a Family Dollar store this month at gunpoint.

The robbery was reported about 9:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Family Dollar at 4190 NW Second Ave.

Police said the robber pointed a semi-automatic pistol at an employee and demanded money. The woman complied with his orders, giving him the money from her cash register, police said.

Authorities said the man then pointed the gun at another employee and told him, "I will shoot you if I don't get more money."

The first employee targeted showed the robber that there was no more money in the register and he ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The robber, who had a long goatee, was wearing a black hooded sweater with a Fox Racing design on the front.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Miami police at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
