KEY WEST, Fla. – A corrections deputy at a Florida Keys jail was arrested Thursday on a domestic battery charge.
Tinesha Mitchell was arrested after a neighbor called 911 to report seeing clothes and furniture being thrown out of a second-floor apartment where Mitchell lives with her boyfriend and their child, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.
Deputies arrived and arrested Mitchell after interviewing the witness and all parties involved.
Mitchell was hired by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office in September 2012 and became a corrections deputy in December 2013. She was assigned to the Stock Island Detention Center.
Herrin said Mitchell remains employed by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and an Internal Affairs investigation.
