Hard Rock Cafe ordered shut after rodent runs around kitchen

12 violations found at Bayside restaurant

MIAMI – The Hard Rock Cafe in the Bayside Marketplace was ordered shut last week after a rodent ran back and forth across the kitchen floor during an inspection.

The inspector noted 12 violations at the restaurant.

Records show inspectors have been to the restaurant 11 times in 2016, and three of those of those times were based on a complaints. The average inspection rate for a restaurant in Florida is two times a year.

"We take great pride in the cleanliness of each of our cafes worldwide and have set the highest industry standard for our locations. We worked with the health department and outside companies and have corrected this issue," Hard Rock International said in a statement.

A rodent issue was also discovered at Ric Kin Bing Cuban Cafe in Pompano Beach.

Below is a list of the places ordered shut and some of their  violations. All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered clean up and re-inspection.

Observed approximately 5 dry and 1 fresh rodent droppings in restroom, 31 dry and 2 fresh rodent droppings in storage room where 2 freezer are located ,7 dry and 1 fresh rodent droppings by steam table in prep/front counter area , 1 dry rodent dropping on ledge under prep table in side prep area and 6 fresh and 5 dry rodent droppings by cooler in side prep area. Observed gnaw marks on bag of rodent poison bait pellets in front counter area."

"Stop Sale issued on potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food due to temperature abuse. Pre made Cuban sandwiches 47-48° F (Cooling) , flan 52° F (Cooling). Held overnight raw beef 47° F, raw chicken 53° F, cooked pork 51° F. All held overnight. Raw beef 47° F, raw chicken 53° F and cooked pork 51° F at cook line flip top cooler. Food has been in cooler overnight. Foods not maintaining 41° F or below for longer than 4 hours."
