22-year-old woman dies after single-vehicle crash in Tamarac

TAMARAC, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened before sunrise Sunday in Tamarac a news release from authorities said. 

The release said around 5:30 a.m., a Honda Civic traveling east in the 4500 block of West Commercial Boulevard struck the curb and guardrail. The 2013 car, driven by Jessica R. Benoit, then went airborne before it slid into the canal.

According to the release, BSO deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene. Benoit was pulled from the vehicle and life-saving methods were administered. The 22-year-old was taken by BSO’s Air Rescue Unit to Broward Health Medical Center where she later died.

The investigation into the crash continues.
