Toddler shot in Miami's West Little River neighborhood

Boy, 2 men taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after shooting

MIAMI – Altraun McDonald told police he was holding his 1-year-old son, Dorian, when bullets started flying.

McDonald was outside of a home, 8351 NW 15 Ave., in Miami's West Little River neighborhood. He was with Tavares Pollydor about 6 p.m. Friday when someone in a black BMW started shooting at them.

"Both victims immediately ran toward the house and McDonald handed the baby over to an adult," Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said.

When Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived Friday, they found the wounded toddler. Both McDonald, 28, and Pollydor, 30, suffered gunshot wounds to the back, Zabaleta said.

Paramedics rushed the men and the toddler to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. The three were listed in stable condition.

The shooting comes a day after a rally to ask for information on the killing of Jada Page, an 8-year-old girl who was shot in the head in August. She was outside of her grandmother's home in northwest Miami-Dade County while waiting for her father, who was also shot. He survived.

Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers increased the reward for information leading to an arrest in her case to $35,000. Police were asking anyone with information on the crimes to call 305-471-8477.
