DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office deputies and fire rescue officials rescued 18 ducklings after their mother was struck and killed by a car in Dania Beach.

BSO Department of Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said 12 ducklings were found about 7:30 a.m. Monday, wandering around the 5300 block of Southwest 40th Avenue.

Jachles said six others were found in a nearby storm drain.

It took authorities about two hours to rescue the ducklings from the storm drain. They used a water hose to bring them to the surface.
