Father, son threaten to kill neighbors because of fireworks, loud music

Pompano Beach men arrested on aggravated assault, disorderly conduct charges

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A Pompano Beach father and his adult son were arrested after they threatened to kill their neighbors for playing loud music and setting off fireworks, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Hugo Rodriguez, 88, and his son, Hugo Gonzalo Rodriguez, 61, are facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

According to probable cause affidavits, Rodriguez and son threatened to kill the neighbors "one by one" early Sunday morning while standing outside their home on Southwest Seventh Drive.

Deputies said the men were armed with guns and claimed to be angry at their neighbors because of minor fireworks and music being played during a party.

A neighbor attempted to confront the elder Rodriguez, who warned the neighbor, "Get away. I have a gun," the report said.

Local 10 News obtained cellphone video of the alleged encounter.

Rodriguez and his son have been released on bond. Nobody answered when Local 10 News reporter Ian Margol knocked on the door.
