Security guard accused of watching woman through window in Miramar

Police say Dean Simon also admitted to masturbating while watching women at gym

Dean Simon is accused of watching a woman undress while peering through her window in Miramar. Police say he admitted to masturbating while watching women at the Sunst Lakes clubhouse gym.

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A security guard was arrested last week after he was caught peering through a Miramar woman's bedroom window while she undressed, police said.

Dean Simon, a security guard in the Sunset Lakes community, was arrested Dec. 29 after the 22-year-old woman's relatives caught him crouching outside her window and held him down until police arrived, according to a police report.

The woman's cousin told police that he was outside smoking when he noticed a man, later identified as Simon, 25, hiding between two air-conditioning units, peering into the woman's window. He went inside and told his uncle, who had his nephew remain with Simon while he called police.

While the witness' uncle was inside, Simon tried to run away, but the woman's cousin pinned him down in the grass, police said.

According to the report, Simon admitted to looking into the woman's bedroom window. Police said Simon claimed to have seen the woman at the community clubhouse, where he let her in to use the gym.

Simon said he was "turned on by seeing her and felt he needed to act," the report said. He told police that he masturbated while watching the woman undress and had been doing so for about six months, the report said.

The North Miami Beach man also admitted to following another woman home from the gym and watching her shower while he masturbated, the report said.

Simon said he masturbates while watching women work out in the clubhouse gym, the report said.

In each instance, Simon parked his golf cart nearby and was wearing his security uniform, police said.

Simon has since been fired by Marksman Security Corporation.

"The company commenced an investigation of the allegations underlying the arrest, and upon its completion, immediately terminated Mr. Simon," attorney Alan Goodman said on behalf of the company. "He is no longer employed with the company. Marksman Security Corporation is committed to the safety of all the communities it services and will not hesitate to take strong disciplinary action against any of its employees where appropriate."
