Miami Beach police seek driver who struck man standing on sidewalk

Surveillance video captures Camaro convertible hitting victim

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach police are searching for the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro convertible that struck a man last month who was standing on the sidewalk.

The incident was reported Dec. 24 at Ninth Street and Collins Avenue.

Mitch Novick's hotel, The Sherbrooke, is at the corner of Collins Avenue and Ninth Street. His surveillance cameras captured the entire crash on camera.

"Of course I was shocked," Novick said. "It was very disturbing. Another disturbing incident on South Beach."

Surveillance video shows the victim, Abhishek Tulsyan, 24, standing on the sidewalk close to the road when the Camaro hits him. The driver did not appear to brake before striking the victim.

"The vehicle strikes him and continues in the northbound direction," Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said the vehicle should have front-end passenger side damage.

He said Tulsyan has been in the hospital since the crash and has undergone multiple surgeries.

"Right now, we're looking for the public's help in identifying the driver and the vehicle involved in this accident," Rodriguez said.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
