3 in custody in southwest Miami-Dade after cellphone store robbed

Suspects' vehicle matched description of hit-and-run incident

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Three people were taken into custody Tuesday night in southwest Miami-Dade after an armed cellphone store robbery in northwest Miami-Dade County, police said.

The armed robbery was reported shortly before 9 p.m. at an AT&T store at 8649 NW 186th St.

Employees told Local 10 News that the crooks emptied the safe, but didn't steal any phones from the displays.

Police said the men took off in a blue Nissan Altima.

Shortly after the robbery, an undercover detective along Southwest 117th Avenue and Southwest 172nd Street spotted the Altima, which they said had been involved in a hit-and-run crash with a black Lexus.

Police said the people inside the car took off running, but were caught shortly after. Police said two guns were also recovered.

The three men, identified as Keith James, Tyrese Grace and Tashederick Williams, all 18, were taken into custody and were questioned to determine if they were involved in other armed robberies throughout the county.

"They're trying to see if they're linked together. If they are possibly involved, and through the investigation it will determine if that is, in fact, the case," Detective Daniel Ferrin said.

The men each face armed robbery charges for Tuesday night's robbery.
