Delray Beach doctor brings gun, knife to St. Andrew's School, police say
Dr. Steven Glanz accused of sending threatening text messages to former fiancée
BOCA RATON, Fla. – A Delray Beach doctor was arrested Friday after he brought a loaded gun and a knife onto St. Andrew's School in Boca Raton, police said.
Dr. Steven Glanz faces charges of aggravated stalking, possession of methamphetamine and bringing a firearm on school property.
Boca Raton police said Glanz, 56, was being investigated for stalking his former fiancée, who is the mother of his son. Police said he had sent her numerous threatening text messages since Jan. 17.
"I have my house loaded with assault rifles, 'Scarface' style," Glanz told her in a text message, according to police. "I have enough ammo to take out a third-world orchestra," Glanz wrote on another occasion, police said.
According to a police report, officers went to the private school to arrest Glanz while he was there to pick up his daughter. Police said officers found a loaded .22-caliber handgun in Glanz's pocket and a folding knife in another pocket.
After Glanz was taken to the Boca Raton Police Department, a glass vial containing 7.2 grams of methamphetamine was found in his pants pocket, the report said.
"I've never seen that before," Glanz told officers after they found the drugs, the report said.
Glanz is a dermatologist at Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Delray Beach. He was released from jail Saturday on a $50,000 bond.
