Trio beats Cuban man over argument about nationalities, deputies say

Victim airlifted to hospital with serious injuries to face, head

MARATHON, Fla. – Three relatives from Guatemala are wanted by authorities for beating a Cuban man, who they got into an argument with over their nationalities, authorities said.

The fight was reported Sunday on 65th Street Oceanside in Marathon.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said the victim, Yandy Carrillo, 30, was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries to his face and head. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

The suspects have been identified by deputies as Luis Garcia-Barrera, 24, Ottoniel Garcia, 20, and Carlitos Garcia, 21.

Garcia-Barrera and Carlitos Garcia are believed to be brothers and Ottoniel Garcia is believed to be their cousin, Herrin said.

All three are wanted on charges of felony aggravated battery.
