Malia Obama joins protest against Dakota Access Pipeline
Actress Shailene Woodley: Incredible to see Malia
MIAMI – Malia Obama was at the Sundance Film Festival when President Donald Trump announced he was going revive the negotiations for the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Actress Shailene Woodley told Democracy Now that the 18-year-old Obama was at a protest held at Sundance.
"It was incredible to see her there, to witness a human being and a woman coming into her own outside of her family and outside of the attachments that this country has on her," Woodley said.
Woodley has been supportive of The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their firm opposition of the project.
Before attending Harvard this Fall, Malia is set to intern for Harvey Weinstein, a movie producer mostly known for Pulp Fiction and Shakespeare in Love.
