Stolen vehicle recovered after man fatally shot on I-95

Victim identified as Antoine Smith, 31.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – A stolen vehicle was recovered by authorities which matches the description of the gray SUV that was occupied by two men who were involved in a fatal shooting Wednesday on Interstate 95.

The shooting was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the Gateway Boulevard exit ramp to I-95 in Boynton Beach.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the victim, Antoine Smith, 31, was found injured inside of his white Chevrolet SUV.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

Sky 10 was above the scene as detectives investigated the shooting. A bullet hole was spotted in the front driver's side window and in the front windshield of the SUV.

There was also blood splattered on the front passenger seat.

Barbera said the gunman was the passenger in the SUV.

Bullet holes could also be seen in a black BMW on the side of the highway.

A crash on I-95 north of Lantana Road is believed to be related to the Boynton Beach incident, Barbera said.

Detectives do not know whether the stolen vehicle was the vehicle involved in the shooting. A sketch was released Thursday afternoon of the gunman.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or saw the gray SUV in the area of Gateway Boulevard and I-95 between 11:20 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. is asked to call Detective Joe Greco at 561-688-4054 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
