Man accused of stabbing teen in northwest Miami-Dade arrested

Police say 14-year-old stabbed trying to break up fight between homeless men

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a teenager Thursday night in northwest Miami-Dade County.

James Mack, 49, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Friday on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Miami-Dade police said Angel Lugo, 14, and a man were walking outside the Earlington Heights Metrorail station on Northwest 41st Street when they saw two homeless men about to fight.

Police said Lugo intervened, and Mack stabbed the boy in the shoulder with a knife.

Lugo was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.

Mack's bond was listed at $10,000.
