2 arrested after shooting death of accomplice during Miami robbery

MIAMI – Two men have been arrested on second-degree murder charges after their accomplice was shot and later died during a robbery they were attempting.

Marcel Antonio Bolanos and Steven Palacio, both 19, we arrested Sunday morning.

Police said Bolanos and Palacio, along with Alberto Medal, 18, approached a man in the area of Northwest Second Court and Northwest 79th Street on Friday night. Police said the men robbed the individual of his belongings at gunpoint.

Another person who witnessed the crime and was armed with a gun fired at the men in hopes of stopping the robbery.

Medal, who was struck, was taken by Bolanos and Palacio to receive medical help, but later died at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

In addition to the murder charges, Bolanos and Palacio were also arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon.

Miami police are looking for any witnesses to the crime and help in identifying the Good Samaritan who stopped the robbery.
