1 in custody after person stabbed at synagogue in Aventura, police say

Victim expected to make full recovery

AVENTURA, Fla. – One person was stabbed Tuesday morning at a synagogue in Aventura, authorities said.

The incident was reported at Beit Edmond Safra Synagogue at 19275 Mystic Point Drive.

Aventura police said two people were involved in a domestic-related dispute and the victim was stabbed three times.

 

 

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the suspect, Eitan Yefet, 56, and the victim have attended services at the synagogue on numerous occasions, and said the incident is not linked to terrorism.

Yefet was questioned after the incident and was arrested on an attempted pre-meditated murder charge.
