Trash can fire forces students out of class at John A. Ferguson Senior High School

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A southwest Miami-Dade County school was evacuated Friday morning because of a fire in a bathroom trash can.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called to a fire at John A. Ferguson Senior High School.

John Schuster, a spokesman for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, said there was a small fire in a trash can in a second-floor bathroom. He said the school was briefly evacuated while firefighters extinguished the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
