OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A Broward Sheriff's Office K-9 unit was involved in a crash with another vehicle early Wednesday morning in Oakland Park.
The crash was reported at 5:52 a.m. at Northeast 62nd Street and North Dixie Highway.
A BSO representative said the deputy's vehicle was struck by a driver who ran a red light.
The deputy was taken to Broward Health Imperial Point with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver remained at the scene.
The K-9 is OK.
Drivers were rerouted after the crash as westbound Cypress Creek Road was shut down at Dixie Highway.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
