Police search for ID of woman claiming to be mermaid

FRESNO, Calif. – Police in California are asking for the public’s help in identifying a young woman who calls herself a mermaid.

The woman has webbed feet, according to Fresno police. She is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall, between 16 and 30 years old, and weighing 150 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, and was found wearing a black sports bra.

She was found in the middle of a road at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

A police Facebook post provides this account of how she was found: “She was located walking in the middle of the street on Millerton Road/Friant Road about a mile south of Table Mountain near the intersection of Millerton/Brighton Crest across from the Eagle Spring Gulf & Country Club. She answers ‘I don’t know’ to most questions. She has claimed to be a mermaid and (that her name is)Joanna. When located, her hair was wet, she was mostly naked and she said she had been in the water.”
