MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Three men ins a black Dodge Caravan went to a construction site Saturday on Northwest 17th Avenue, under the Dolphin Expressway, ready to work.
The only problem was that they were posing as workers, Miami police said.
The threesome stole pumps, batteries, miscellaneous hand tools, chop saws, street saws and chipping hammers.
"They had to have had some inside knowledge of the inner workings of the security system and the tools that were here," Commander Jose Alfonso said.
The thefts took fewer than 30 minutes.
In the end, $20,000 worth of property was taken, police said.
Someone on staff was supposed to be watching the grounds, but never came out of the trailer during the theft, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
