Homestead police said Chaviano is accused of committing 11 commercial burglaries, nine of which occurred in Homestead.

Police said Chaviano confessed to taking part in the burglaries and said that he used a stolen vehicle to get to and away from the businesses.

Authorities said Chaviano used a brick or a hammer in order to break the front glass doors or windows of the affected businesses.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows a man believed to be Chaviano and another thief breaking into a Homestead salon about 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Southwest 167th Avenue.

Police said the men didn't take anything from the business, but damaged the front of the salon and neighboring businesses.

Authorities said the burglaries caused thousands of dollars in damage to the businesses.

Records show that Chaviano has a history of burglary arrests in Miami-Dade County.
