Gunman shoots man who cut him off in vehicle, deputies say

Victim shot in hand

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A gunman shot a man earlier this month after the victim cut him off while they were in traffic, authorities said.

Broward sheriff's deputies said the gunman shot the victim just before 7 p.m. May 5 in the parking lot of a Deerfield Beach market at 5361 N. Dixie Highway.

Authorities said several people witnessed the shooting. They said the gunman fled and then returned to the scene minutes later.

Deputies said the victim, identified as Harold Strudwick, 32, and a co-worker had just gotten out of work and were driving in the alley that runs alongside Ali'I Market.

As Studwick reached the parking lot, a red four-door sedan with dark-tinted windows pulled up, partially blocking their path, deputies said.

Authorities said the driver, described as a black male with a medium to heavy frame and long dreadlocks, stepped out and pointed a gun at Strudwick.

Deputies said he fired one shot into the victim's car, wounding him in the hand.

Strudwick's co-worker and several witnesses fled into the market while the victim's car slowly rolled into another vehicle.

Deputies said the gunman got back into his car and drove away. They said he returned about three minutes later, got out of his car and appeared to be searching for something on the ground.

Authorities said he quickly gave up and drove away.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Larry Heath at 954-321-4719 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
