4 hospitalized after shooting at Miami Gardens banquet hall

Motive for shooting unknown

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Four people were hospitalized early Friday after being shot at a banquet hall in Miami Gardens.

A witness told Local 10 News that the shots were fired just before 5 a.m. at Champions Banquet Hall near Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 167th Street, just south of the Palmetto Expressway.

Investigators closed off the area as they searched for clues.

A woman who told Local 10 News that she is a bartender and had just gotten off work when the shooting happened.

"I was standing on the outside," she said. "I was on a call because my daughter just had a baby. So I was on the phone when I see people running out."

The shooting happened just feet away from a preschool.

"You just have to keep praying for your kids," one parent, Mandisa Cross, said. "Violence is everywhere. It's sad."

The identities and conditions of the victims have not been released. Police have also not released any information about the gunman.
