Pilot slams into alligator while landing at Orlando airport

ORLANDO, Fla. – We often like to joke when alligators are found in bizarre locations around Florida, but one gator appearance could have caused a serious incident.

A pilot landing at Orlando Executive Airport hit and killed an 11-foot alligator while he was landing last week.

The gator had made its way onto the airport's runway. 

WFTV reports the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

The pilot is talking only to the FAA.

Another pilot, Brad Pierce, posted a picture of the alligator while it was still lying on the runway. Pierce says the "gator jumped up and struck the wing" during the pilot's landing.
