Detectives started their investigation by analyzing crime trends in cases where victims were followed from banks and subsequently robbed, or had their vehicles burglarized, according to a news release.

Surveillance was set up in the parking lot of a Wells Fargo bank near Northwest 186th Street and Northwest 67th Avenue.

Police said the five suspects were seen loitering in a silver Nissan before they got out of the shopping center and "drove in a manner to determine if law enforcement was following them," the release said.

Detectives followed the Nissan to a Walmart in the 5800 block of Northwest 117th Street.

The five suspects then entered the store, where they stole several video games by concealing them inside a backpack, the release said.

Detectives were able to meet the suspects when they were walking to their car.

As a result of the investigation, six vehicle burglaries were solved, police said. In addition, a search of the Nissan revealed a stolen gun, black mask, flashlight and marijuana.

The suspects have been arrested on charges that include grand theft of a firearm, vehicle burglary, petit theft, loitering and prowling and possession of marijuana.
