HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – An acetylene tank ignited Monday during a welding job at a Hallandale Beach warehouse, authorities said.

The incident was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. at 216 NW Third Ave.

Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue Division Chief Lori Williams said the worker turned his back to the tank, heard a pop and then saw the tank on fire.

Williams said the man was unable to extinguish the flames on his own, so he called the fire department.

Williams said the man rents out a portion of the warehouse and had all of the proper permits needed to perform the "hobby" work he was doing.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames, Williams said.

No one was injured.

It's unclear what caused the tank to ignite.
