MIAMI – Keisha Brown was watching her nieces and nephews play when she heard gun shots.
They were playing in a low-income residential neighborhood between Miami Edison Senior High School and the Athalie Range Park.
"It's very frustrating," Brown said after the Friday night shooting at Northwest 64th Street and Third Court.
There was a bicycle on the ground. A 17-year-old male was bleeding. Brown thought he had made it, but on Saturday Miami Police spokesman Rene Pimentel said he died at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Detectives were still searching for his killer on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier this year, Jarvis Henderson, 16, a Miami Edison Senior High School student was fatally shot. The crime scene was near Northeast 59th Terrace and North Miami Avenue.
Jarvis, who was a junior in the school band, died while visiting his girlfriend. He was in "great academic standing," according to Miami Edison Senior High School principal Try Diggs.
The gun violence in the area this year also wounded 14-year-old Jason Gardner, 15-year-old Lawrencia Barrett and 18-year-old Alexander Satalling.
