MIAMI, Fla. – When Terence Gittes saw surveillance video of a group of teens who were robbing a woman at the Youfit Health Club's parking lot near Miami's Little River neighborhood, the scene was familiar.
He said a group of four teens who were riding the same bicycles involved in the Tuesday robbery of Liliana Hurtado robbed him near the gym at Northeast 80th Terrace.
Gittes said one boy knocked him down. Another stood on his chest and his neck, while another one held him down. He said another teen took his wallet, his keys and his phone.
"The way that woman was robbed on that video was the same exact way I was robbed right here in front of my house," Gittes said.
Gittes recognized their bikes. Detectives were looking for suspects who were between 13 to 16 years old.
Hurtado, who is a grandmother, said she doesn't want to press charges, but wants the teens to be rehabilitated. Gittes wants them to pay for their crimes.
"These children need to be caught and put in jail," Gittes said. "I think that if they continue to get this bold that they are on a path to destruction."
Miami police officers were asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-5477.
