Thieves steal more than $35,000 worth of tools from Oakland Park business

$3,000 reward offered for information that leads to arrest

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office deputies are searching for two thieves who they said stole more than $35,000 worth of tools last month from a business in Oakland Park.

The burglary happened at about 10 p.m. July 30 at Steel Contractors at 4444 NE Eighth Ave.

Deputies said the thieves used large bolt cutters to break through the perimeter fence.

Surveillance video then shows them unbolting generators from truck beds.

Authorities said the men got away with eight Lincoln Electric generators and three Miller welding machines.

A Chevy Astro van that was possibly white and a four-door truck were also captured on camera at the scene at the time of the crime, deputies said.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Detective Latefah Lysius at 954-202-3118 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
