In an Instagram post, Sewell declared she broke the Guinness World Record with two minutes to spare. To beat the previous record, Sewell had to complete the race in under seven and a half hours, amounting to a 17-minute mile pace.

Sewell trained normally for the race, as her podiatrist advised her "throw in the high heels every now and then."
