Construction worker dies after falling off Palmetto Expressway

Man pronounced dead at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A construction worker who fell off the Palmetto Expressway has died.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the construction worker, identified as Peter Bilinski, fell off the overpass near Northwest South River Drive.

Sky 10 was above the scene as the man was placed onto a stretcher. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said Bilinski was a senior bridge inspector who suffered internal injuries after falling about 30 feet.

"Peter has been a part of The Corradino Group team for over a decade where he had been a constant force of hard work, humility, kindness and light," his employer said in a statement. "We all will be forever changed by today's loss. The Corradino Group is stronger together and we shall mourn him as a family."

It is the second time in as many weeks that a construction worker has been injured on a Miami-Dade County expressway. A construction worker fell off a crane last week on the Dolphin Expressway, landing on the pavement along Northwest 37th Avenue.

Police are conducting a death investigation, but it will likely be ruled accidental.

Bilinski is survived by his wife, Stacey, and his daughter, Sierra.
