1 dead after shooting at Bank of America ATM in North Miami Beach

Police release surveillance images of hooded gunman

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – One person is dead after a shooting Wednesday night at a Bank of America ATM in North Miami Beach, police said.

North Miami Beach police are investigating the fatal shooting and robbery near Northeast 12th Avenue and Northeast 163rd Street.

The victim was identified as Dillon Bud Calvin Steve, 26. Police said Steve was using an ATM when the gunman walked up and demanded money.

Authorities said Steve's mother witnessed the shooting. 

"I have 30 detectives upstairs right now in a briefing and we are going out to hunt this person down and bring justice to this family. They did not deserve what happened last night," Maj. Richard Rand said.  

Authorities released surveillance images of the gunman, who was wearing an Ecko hooded sweatshirt that had a skull on the hood. The sweatshirt had the words "Kill Batman" on it and "Haha" was written on the front. 

"We do need the public's help in identifying this subject right here. Somebody has to know who this guy is and we will catch him. I guarantee that we will catch this guy," Capt. Juan Pinillos said.  

Detectives believe the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time and the shooting was a "crime of opportunity."

"We know that with the public's we can bring this individual to justice," Pinillos said.
