Mother who shot son trying to get inside home identified

Domestic dispute leaves 24-year-old man wounded

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police have identified the federal corrections officer who shot her son as he tried to force his way inside her northwest Miami-Dade County home.

Atoya Holmes, 44, wounded Lance McCoy, 24, about 10 a.m., Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome said.

Neighbors said McCoy had been fighting with his stepfather, Arthur Holmes, 45.

Colome said officers found McCoy suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
