Donna Brazile talks about new book during Miami Book Fair 2017

DNC staffer Seth Rich's murder still hurts, Brazile says

MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – About a week after she released "Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-Ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House" and faced controversy over itDonna Brazile was in downtown Miami promoting the new book.

She talked about the grief and fear that she felt in the aftermath of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich's murder July 2016. There has been speculation about the motive of his murder.

Rich, 27, was found with two fatal gunshot wounds near his home in Washington, D.C. Detectives believe he was a robbery victim, but they never found the murderer.

"He was like my son," Brazile, 57, said.

Hundreds filled the Chapman Conference Center in Miami Dade College to listen to the former interim Democratic National Committee chair Wednesday night.

Local 10 News Michael Putney introduced Ana Navarro, who interviewed Brazile during the sold out event.

Navarro, whom Brazile referred to as a "sister friend," said she burned some bridges with her new book.

Brazile said the process was "rigged" and Bernie Sanders was at a disadvantage during the 2016 campaign, because of the party's fundraising approach. Hillary Clinton supporters say "she bailed" the DNC out.

"After this chapter of my life, I am going back to what I love best," Brazile said about her plan to focus on teaching at Harvard University.

The next sold out political event of the fair will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, with former vice president Joe Biden, who will talk about his new book "Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose."

The Miami Book Fair events, which began Nov. 12 and run through Nov. 19, are featured on the YouTube livestream page.
