Officers search for Miami burglar with appetite for high-protein foods

Burglar steals $3K worth of beef, poultry and seafood, police say

LITTLE HAVANA, Fla. – Selva Negra Restaurant in Miami's Little Havana serves Nicaraguan food from about 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on most weekdays. Most recently a thief has been showing up after hours, and he isn't after their popular fried cheese or their gallo pinto.

The regular of the restaurant at 2025 W. Flagler St., near the Marlins Park, prefers beef, poultry and seafood. He is accused of taking about $3,000 worth of consumable goods during a series of robberies.

Officer Kenia Fallat, who serves as a spokeswoman for the Miami Police Department, said the thin-built male has been breaking into the restaurant's refrigerator.  Surveillance video shows he usually rides a white bicycle, carries a black Nike backpack and wears a baseball cap.

Authorities were asking anyone with information to call the Miami Police Department at 305-603-6420 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
