Miami-Dade police release sketch of man who raped woman in car

'They abandoned you,' man tells woman in Spanish

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A popular southwest Miami-Dade retail spot is now the center of a sexual battery investigation.

A 43-year-old woman was sitting in her friend's car earlier this month when a man entered the vehicle and raped her, police said.

The incident took place about 5:30 a.m. Thursday in a parking lot at the corner of Southwest 72nd Street and Southwest 157th Avenue.

The woman told detectives the man opened the door and said, in Spanish, “They abandoned you,” before forcing her into the back of the car and raping her.

Officers told Local 10 News the man then got out and sped off in a blue car.

Based on the victim's account, police were able to make a detailed sketch of the man, who they describe as somewhere between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with short, curly black hair.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
