Homeless man who returned check rewarded with housing

Check was worth $10,000

A homeless man who returned a $10,000 check that he found in the street was thanked back in a big way.

WTIC-TV reports the New Haven, Connecticut-area man is receiving housing and free tuition to real estate classes, all because of his good deed.

The man, Elmer Alvarez, returned businessperson Roberta Hoskie's check, who rewarded Alvarez and told him to help others as he got back on his feet, WTIC reported

Turns out Hoskie herself was at one time homeless, the WTIC story said.
