Army investigating cause of death

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ The U.S. Army is investigating after a paratrooper from Florida was found dead on SaturdayĀ in his barracks at Fort Bragg.Ā 

Spc.Ā Carlton Butler, a 22-year-old infantryman,Ā grew up inĀ North Miami BeachĀ andĀ joined the Army in June 2014, the ArmyĀ said.

"Carlton was a patriotic, energetic, and motivated young man, who --Ā just recently --Ā had been promoted up to a Gun Team Leader position in Bravo Company, a position he rightly earned,"Ā Lt.Ā Col.Ā GrahamĀ White, Butler's commanding officer, wrote in aĀ Facebook post.

Army did not release any details about what could have caused Butler's death.

"I humbly ask for your discretion, patienceĀ and decorum while investigators piece together the circumstances surrounding Spc.Ā Butler's untimely death this past Saturday,"Ā White said.Ā 

Butler was assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. Ā 

The FayettevilleĀ ObserverĀ reported that Butler was the second soldier to dieĀ at Fort BraggĀ in less than a week.

The newspaper reportedĀ that Pfc. Nicholas MartinezĀ was alsoĀ found dead in his barracks room on Thursday.Ā
