Venezuelan escapee to speak at Florida International University

After 1002 days as political prisoner, Antonio Ledezma visits Miami-Dade


MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Antonio Ledezma, a former Venezuelan political prisoner who escaped Nov. 17 and sought refuge in Spain by way of Colombia, was in Miami-Dade Thursday. 

The former mayor of Caracas was arrested Feb. 19, 2015 after he challenged both the late Hugo Chavez and President Nicolas Maduro. 

He was set to speak at Florida International University Friday. The Association of Exiled Venezuelan Journalists organized the 4 p.m. event. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. For more information, call 305-794-9951 or 305-348-2894.
