Man seriously hurt in hit-and-run crash in Miami

Police searching for driver of white Hummer who sped off after crash

MIAMI – A man was seriously injured early Tuesday in a hit-and-run crash in downtown Miami, police said.

Witnesses told police that someone driving a white General Motors Hummer struck a man in the crosswalk around 12:30 a.m. at Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 82nd Street. The driver then sped off, leaving the victim in the street, police said.

The man, identified as John Holyoke, 41, was taken to Northshore Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses were unable to provide police with a description of the driver.
