Florida man with 2 wives charged with bigamy

Corrections records show Paul Wayne Stout is registered sex offender

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Deputies in North Florida arrested a sex offender Thursday morning for having two wives who were unaware of each other, authorities said.

Paul Wayne Stout, 49, of Bunnell, was booked on a felony bigamy charge into the Flagler County jail, where he remained in custody in lieu of $1,500 bail.

Stout wed an Indianapolis woman in 1996. The couple separated in 2005, but they never formally ended their marriage, deputies said. Then, while still legally married, Stout took a second wife in Flagler County in June 2013.

After learning of her husband’s infidelity on Facebook, the first wife contacted authorities and said she wanted to press bigamy charges. Stout's second wife had no idea about his first marriage. She too wanted to pursue charges when she found out.

"This isn't a crime often committed today," Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. "This guy obviously has a silver tongue and betrayed two unsuspecting women."

Corrections records show Stout is a registered sex offender, who was convicted in 2015 of possessing photographs showing sexual conduct involving a child.
