Florida high school teacher accused of sending nude photos to Texas teen

Robin Dunlap arrested after sexually explicit conversations with boy, police say

Police say Robin Dunlap, a teacher at Haines City Senior High School, sent nude photos to a 15-year-old boy and engaged in sexually explicit conversations with him after learning of his age.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A Florida high school teacher has been arrested after she sent nude photographs to a 15-year-old boy in Texas, police said.

Haines City Senior High School teacher Robin Dunlap, 27, faces charges of transmitting material harmful to a minor and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony.

According to the Winter Haven Police Department, Dunlap told police she sent the nude photos before she learned of the boy's real age. She said the boy pretended to be 19 during their conversations, which initially took place over the Xbox One and then using text and video chat on their cellphones.

Police said the boy's mother eventually found out what was happening and called Dunlap to tell her that her son was only 15, but detectives said that didn't deter Dunlap.

Detectives said the boy's father told them that Dunlap continued to chat with the teen using Google Hangouts.

Authorities in Texas worked with investigators in Florida to determine that "multiple conversations continued after Dunlap was aware" of the boy's age.

Police said Dunlap admitted to carrying on conversations with the boy when investigators interviewed her at her home Sunday. Police said Dunlap told them the boy "is the only person that she can talk to and the only one who understands her."

Investigators said a search of Dunlap's phone revealed that she and the teen were engaged in an "extremely vulgar" and sexually explicit conversation that began Nov. 26 and continued through Dec. 11.

"There is absolutely no excuse for an adult -- especially a high school teacher -- to continue sexually explicit conversations with a 15-year-old long after his real age is revealed," Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird said. "The vulnerable age of this victim and the fact that this woman took advantage of him for her own personal needs is inexcusable."
