Thieves smash through drywall to get into Dania Beach clothing store

$700,000 worth of gowns, dresses stolen, deputies say

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A group of thieves smashed their way through drywall to break into a high-end clothing store in Dania Beach over the weekend.

The burglary was reported about 10:15 p.m. Saturday at Holt Miami at 1917 Tigertail Blvd.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the crew created a hole in the wall of an adjoining business, U.S. Brick & Block Systems, to get inside the store.

Deputies said the thieves bypassed the less expensive clothes and grabbed pricey gowns and dresses.

The burglars also disabled the store's alarm and stole its DVR, authorities said.

The stolen merchandise, valued at about $700,000, were placed in a white box truck that was waiting outside the showroom that faces Interstate 95.

Authorities said the thieves also burglarized U.S. Brick & Block Systems, stealing two pressure cleaning scrubbers and two paint sprayers, worth about $1,600.

Surveillance video shows the same box truck, which had a distinctive rounded top, unloading the burglars and returning to the property the next morning.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Detective Peter McGowan at 954-926-2400 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
