Pembroke Pines police searching for missing 82-year-old man

Roberto Perez suffers from Alzheimer's, has gotten lost before, officials say

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Pembroke Pines police are searching for an 82-year-old man who has not been seen since early Saturday morning.

Police said Roberto Perez suffers from Alzheimer's disease and has gotten lost in the past.

"This length of time is concerning. We expected to find him within an hour or two," his daughter Patricia Perez said. "As the hours went by, it just got a little more serious."

He was last seen about 6:30 a.m. Saturday walking from his home in the Century Village community in the 13400 block of Southwest 16 Court.

He was last seen wearing a blue and white checkered shirt, brown pants and red-and-black sandals.

Police said Perez does not drive and is likely somewhere nearby. His daughters urged the public for help at a news conference Saturday night.

"He's very friendly, but he might not ask someone for help," his daughter Natalie Hormilla said. "If you're out and about and you see someone wearing a blue checkered shirt and in his 80s, please stop him and ask him if he needs help."

Anyone with information about Perez's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Pembroke Pines Police Department at 954-431-2200.
