Hallandale Beach family loses irreplaceable treasures after burglary

Burglars ransack home, steal music box with boy's baby teeth

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Family pictures, umbilical cords and baby teeth were among the many priceless treasures a young family in Hallandale Beach lost this week during a burglary.

The thieves also took the children's tablets and their laptop computers. Emily Fuentes said she felt like the burglars had been watching their routine before they ransacked their home.

"They took a music box that my mom gave to me," Fuentes said.

Inside that music box, Fuentes said, were her son's baby teeth and umbilical cords.

"I can't buy that stuff," she said.

Fuentes said she and her husband, Alex Fuentes, took the kids to school and went to work. When her husband came home for lunch, he found the home had been burglarized.

Emily Fuentes had a message for the thieves.

"Get off your ass, go get a job, make some honest money," she said.

Fuentes said her family is scared and trying to find another place to live. In the meantime, they are staying with a relative.
